SOCIAL WELFARE DEPARTMENT

Introduction

The department of Social Welfare was established during the year 1956, vide Govt. Order No. SS4009-SRD-2-56-1 dated 18-10-1956. The very purpose of starting the department is for the welfare of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/ Other Backward Classes. Presently, its headquarter is located at 5th Mile Lumsey, Gangtok, Sikkim
At Pakyong Social welfare office is accommodated in old group C quarter (top floor) situated at the back of DAC building which is near to Agriculture-horticulture building. It has two small rooms and a small hall with a tiny kitchen and one common wash room. The quarter is fully renovated (ceiling done, white washed, toilet-commode changed, water fittings redone, electrification, rod inserted to windows, door &windows re fixed) and it is ready to use. We are waiting for furniture supply from head quarter, at present we are working from Gangtok District. We are going to use our office from April 2023 onwards.
