POWER DEPARTMENT

Introduction

Power Department, Government of Sikkim is a public utility and responsible for generation, transmission and distribution of power supply in Sikkim. The department is providing the services to more than one lakh consumers thereby contributing major revenue for the State.
The schemes like DDUGJY and IPDS implemented by the department in rural and urban areas respectively have enhanced the capacity of the infrastructures thereby improving the services in term of quality and stability of power supply and also reduction of AT&C losses.

SCHEMES:

SYSTEM AUGMENTATION, RENOVATION, MODERNIZATION AND STRENGTHENING OF POWER TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION NETWORK OF SIKKIM
The scheme funded by the State Government is a special package scheme for connection all rural households, creation of village infrastructures and system strengthening of rural electricity submission and distribution system.
The scheme has also incorporated the electrification of Amba village in Pakyong adopted by Honble Chief Minister of Sikkim and Latuk Chochenpheri GPU under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY).
The completion of the scheme shall ensure quality power supply, reduction losses and also enhancement of village infrastructures for future supply.
